(More customer reviews)The "dramatic" dome does not keep out rain. There's a hole for the chain at the top! Rain invariably seeps in, so that the seed at the bottom, where the birds feed, rots. Even though this feeder holds so much, I sometimes have to take it down before it's emptyto clean it. Admitedly, I live in Georgia, and we get torrential downpours. If you get only light showers, or live in a dry region, this may be the feeder for you.

However, the perches on the feeder are plastic, and are once again worn or broken. No one seems to want to stock them, so I'm on the internet looking for some. Amazon does not have them either. I'll continue my search. At some point, I'll continue my pathetic search for the perfect feeder.

(More customer reviews)We have always had a problem with squirrels getting the bird seed even though I feed the squirrels.This is our second feeder and it works the best.I had to move it twice because a squirrel was able to jump higher then the instructions said.I have a thick wire hanging down from a branch.I did have to use dowells to increase the length of the purches.Now I have four birds feeding most of the time with others waiting in near by trees for their turn.It has great capacity.

(More customer reviews)I find that a given repellent will work in varying degrees for different populations of the same animal.The gray squirrels here in my yard in semi-rural Ohio are definitely not fond of this product and most of the year it keeps them off my woodpecker feeders. However this may not be the case for Georgia gray squirrels, other species, or even those in the next county!(Must reapply often, when seed bar or suet gets nibbled down.)

(More customer reviews)I found this product to be very useful in keeping the squirrels from eating my bird seed; but I used a full packet per 8qt bucket of seed. I was pleasantly surprised to see my feeders full and only birds eating from them. If you are unfamiliar with working with hot peppers be very careful using this product. Wear gloves and possibly a mask.The new website for C&S ( wildsuets.com )states to use an oil coating on the seed before applying the powder:Mix only five pounds of seed at a time!Mix the seed well with several sprays of a non-stick vegetable spray, or two teaspoons of cooking oil before applying the "Squirrel Away TM".The birds do not taste the oil or the powder. Therefore, they do not know it is there.Mix the powder one teaspoon full at a time, taking care to mix thoroughly.ALLOW TREATED SEED TO SIT 20 MINUTES BEFORE FILLING THE FEEDER!.
