(More customer reviews)I found this terrific, but filled with a host of problems you won't soon forget. Not even a day passed before my squirrels popped the lid off the top.There is no electricity at the top to stop them. I spent another $20 and quite a few hours and modified the top and wiring to electrify that as well. Thank goodness I am handy. This could prove frustrating if you are not handy, nor clever too. The birds can't get to the seed at the last 2" from the bottom and that quickly rots and drives the birds away.The inside is especially difficult to clean and I needed a long stick to pry out the damp solidified seed and a lot of patience to clean it.A lot of what looks like metal in the photos is silver painted plastic and while I assembled it right from the box I broke the plastic top off and had to return it for another. Don't plan to hand the metal wire bar in the picture over the branch or you will break the top right off.You need to hang this off a wire. The holes for suspending the metal wire bar are especially poorly designed.The battery cover is attached with tiny screws so be prepared to lose them. All of these problems could have easily been remedied by the staff that designed it. What a shame they didn't. Overall its excellent at keeping squirrels away.I was so inundated with sparrows after the squirrels were gone I scratched my head and wondered what have I done?

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical that any of these ultrasonic devices would actually work at all.But, I have to say, this unit, the Rodar II, totally got the job done.I'm impressed.I had a squirrel problem in my attic, and this one pesky bugger just loved waking me up on early weekend mornings.The day I placed the Rodar II in my attic was the last day I ever heard of Mr. Squirrel.He left for the much quieter neighbor's house.Like it says here, the unit is practically silent.You can faintly here a very very light clicking, but in my attic, it's all but forgotten.I just leave it plugged in up there all the time, and now I can get some needed extra sleep on weekends. The unit itself is small.For some reason, I had gotten the idea that it was much larger in the pictures here, but that's likely because there's nothing to reference it's scale to. It easily fits behind ductwork in your attic or basement.It has a reasonably long AC power cord too, so you'll likely not need an extension cord.

(More customer reviews)I grow weary of watching squirrels attach themselves to the feeders for what seems like hours. I've given up with baffles and my Twirl-A-Squirrel hanger was too temperamental and would spin wildly with the slightest breeze. I decided to try this pepper product. I carefully weighed 5 pounds of seed and used 2 tablespoons of the pepper mixture. This is double the dosage and is recommended for the initial attempt so the squirrels will get to know the smell.

Usually I will have 3 squirrels on my 3 black oil feeders, but with the pepper, I can report that it does seem to have some deterrent value. I have added a picture of one squirrel that seems to enjoy the rich peppery nutty taste.

Capsaicin based powder for use with mixed birdseed. Add 1 tablespoon per 5 lb. of seed or if there is a heavy squirrel problem, double the amount of powder. Caution: When mixing use gloves and be protected from wind, do not rub or touch eyes and keep out of reach of children. Clip strip contains 12 each, 1.5 oz. pouches.
