(More customer reviews)This is our dogs favorite toy, he has hip dysplasia and after 2 operations including one where the hip ball was actually cut off (no more hip and socket but free floating bones that do not touch) some running exercise doesn't work.

For some reason chasing balls is hard on his legs and he limps, with this, just play and fun.The squirrels are very sturdy but still only last about 6 months with our guy biting and shaking it, so this time I bought 2.

I would highly recommend this toy to anyone who has an active dog that likes to chase or fetch.Our dog gives it 2 thumbs up and a 10+.

Squirrel Stopper Liberty Universal Squirrel Stopper Baffle Review

(More customer reviews)climb up into the baffle and popped the top piece off that closed the open hole on the top and slipped through the top of the baffle. The baffle comes with several of these depending on the thickness of your pole which one you use. My husband had wondered about this piece from day one if this was too flimsy and could be pushed off by the squirrels and sure enough they finally figured it out.We bought ours directly from the makers of this baffle and I emailed them about two days ago and haven't heard back. Some how I feel we aren't the only ones to discover this. We will have to do one of two things now. Either put a thicker ABS over the pole so there is no need to use the piece they push off to cover the gap or some how secure the top piece so it can not be just pushed off. We were very disappointed to see the squirrel on top of the birdfeeder and I think we spent like $60.00 some for ours a year ago.
Update 6-14-10 Well finally got ahold of Dr. Kim Sena who owns and founder of this and he sent me more gaskets and I tried the smaller gasket that is more snug against the pole. It has been about 1 month and the squirrel not only chewed the gasket off but also the hard plastic top cover pieces. So now not even a replacement gasket will fit on the top of the baffle. I emailed Kim back and have yet to hear back from it and it has been several days. He says this is the first time this has happened but some how it is hard to believe my squirrels are that much smarter than the garden variety squirrels. One thing that might work or at least for awhile is to stuff hardware cloth up into the baffle to prevent squirrel from climbing up inside to chew on the gaskets. You may want to try their more expense Squirrel Stopper with slick metal pole that probably prevents them from climbing the pole in the first place.

Update 6-17-10 got an email back from Dr. Sena and he will send me another baffle and he wants to keep in touch and try to figure a way to prevent squirrels from circumventing this baffle.

Update:7-30-10 We have stuffed hardware cloth up into the baffle and it seems to keep the squirrels out so far.

We have a lot of deer in our area, and if she kept our plants sprayed right after a heavy rain washed things off, the deer didn't bother the plants. If she forgot, it only took a day or two before the deer ate the plants.

The local store stopped carrying Deer Off this year, so I decided to purchase it on Amazon. When I got it, my wife noticed that the color of the concentrate was different than before. It seems that they have a new formula, and it DOESN'T work! (Their website confirms that they have "improved" their formula.) I contacted the Havahart company directly to see if they would trade me for the old formula, but they didn't even answer my email. I strongly suggest that you stay away from this product unless they return to their original, proven, formula.

(More customer reviews)The unit claims to be put out an ultra sonic sound that will irritate the pests and cause them to leave the area. The rabbits didn't seem to care but it sure is annoying to humans.One would assume that the sound frequency would be above the human hearing range but the unit puts out 15 Khz which can be heard by any human except the very old and deaf.I had it set to a lower sound leveland left it continuously running, but its irritating sound could be heard in the upstairs bedrooms and by the neighbors, yet we still had rabbits within 15 feet of the device.
I tried to set it on the motion detector mode with volume set all the way up.That sure got the neighbor's attention and the rabbits actually raised their ears and continued to feed on my plants.
The remote control works equally bad.If you are standing in front of the unit it (10 feet away) the remote will usually work about 50% of the time.If you are 10 feet away (just inside the house) it seldom works.I opened the remote and checked the battery which was at the proper voltage.I am a professional electrical engineer and this product needs to go back to the design department.

I've given up with baffles and my Twirl-A-Squirrel hanger was too temperamental and would spin wildly with the slightest breeze. I decided to try this pepper product. I carefully weighed 5 pounds of seed and used 2 tablespoons of the pepper mixture. This is double the dosage and is recommended for the initial attempt so the squirrels will get to know the smell.

Usually I will have 3 squirrels on my 3 black oil feeders, but with the pepper, I can report that it does seem to have some deterrent value. I have added a picture of one squirrel that seems to enjoy the rich peppery nutty taste.

(More customer reviews)We've used Deer-Off for several seasons in our garden in a rural area of southern Wisconsin.It really does prevent deer from sampling our garden and keeps racoons from digging up newly planted plants.It's pretty stinky, so you need to use a little care when mixing and applying.It washes off clothing and hands readily.

You'll need to re-apply Deer-Off periodically, particularly after rains.

We apply it using an inexpensive, hand-pressurized plastic garden sprayer.They're available for around $25 at home improvement centers

My two dogs love it but, and this may be because they insist on bring it back together, it has nearly fallen apart in a weeks time. If you have a gentle dog (if such a thing exists) this might work for you but, as great a it flies, I just can't see spending that much for another one.

Back to searching for the perfect disc that flies well, won't hurt the dog's mouth, and has a reasonable lifetime...

(More customer reviews)This feeder is labeled "squirrel proof," but in three weeks, it has been used almost exclusively by squirrels, who cling upside down to the bottom and feed at will! The only bird I've seen use this feeder was a Carolina wren, and that was only once. Nuthatches and woodpeckers check it out but so far have refused to go through the outer cage or access the suet from the bottom. I can probably deter the squirrels by putting a piece of wood on the bottom of the inner cage that holds the suet, but if the birds still won't use the feeder, it will turn out to have been a waste of money.

(More customer reviews)I use it on a 1" pole and at a height level that is right underneath my hanging bird feeder, while at the same time about 5' from the ground. It works wonder, the baffle (skirt) wobbles as rodents try to dislodge it from beneath (& inside) and there's no way they can defeat this - unless of course they chew off the ring support, which is exactly what mine are doing day & night now. They teeth are too strong for the acrylic but Woodlink assures me that if they chew it through, a replacement piece will be mailed to me. Since that I wouldn't accept anything in black or green, this modern acrylic clear baffle is perfect. And once again, it works very well.
